Australian Made logo celebrates 25 years

The 25th anniversary of the Australian Made logo was celebrated in style at an industry gala event.

Chairman, David Grey, captured many of the symbol's milestones in front of 200 members of the business community at the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's annual dinner held in Canberra last November.

Guests were treated to an exclusive viewing of AMAG's new corporate dvd featuring Australian Made ambassador and didgeridoo artist William Barton teaming up with Aussie band, IceHouse.

Attendees also received an Australian leather key fob made by licensee, Adori Leather, as a memento of the occasion.

Former PM salutes logo on 25th anniversary

The Prime Minister responsible for launching the Australian Made logo 25 years ago, Bob Hawke, has congratulated licensees on being ‘proudly committed' to the official symbol.

The campaign has been successful and enduring despite the challenges it has faced, wrote The Hon RJL Hawke AC in a letter to AMAG.

"The aim and ambition of the campaign has not altered; that is to encourage Australian to buy local products over import where the local product offers value for money".

"The highly recognisable green and gold triangle with the stylised kangaroo logo has now gone international.

"I am sure the campaign will continue to play, for at least another 25 years, an important role in marketing Australian products and produce, which now included our wonderful Australian Seafood and I wish the very best to all involved."

Consumers told to buy with confidence

Shoppers were reminded to look for the Australian Made logo and buy with confidence on Australia Day.

AMAG ran a solid marketing communications campaign last month including A full page ad in the Woman's Day complemented by online advertising and social media activity.

The Age published a special 12 page supplement which focused on why it's important to buy Australian, what the logo means as well as some great licensee success stories.

CEO Ian Harrison was also interviewed by a number of media outlets including Today Tonight and ABC Radio National.
